Update SFOE-projects

Battery-electric fire engine developed by SUNCAR, Meili and Rusterholz

Municipal vehicle:

Together with Meili and Rusterholz, we have developed and completed the two 8t-class electric municipal vehicle. They are now in an extensive test phase in which operating data is being collected.
The standard version chosen in this project will have a bridge, practical for flexible use in local authorities, and the special version is an initial deployment vehicle.
The standard version in this project is based on the basic configuration of the URS.e vehicle from Meili with an identical nominal battery capacity of 120 kWh. It is extended by one or optionally two electrical interfaces for the use of various attachments (water tank with pump, watering system / watering arm, embankment mower, snow plough, crane, snow blower). A CCS fast charging interface enables maximum operational readiness thanks to DC fast charging.
The first-response fire service vehicle is also based on the standard version of the URS.e. Equipped with a special drive train and optimised transmission, the vehicle can reach top speeds of 60 km/h in order to arrive at the scene as quickly as possible. A 6-man cab, two electric fire pumps, a water tank, a roof ladder and various other equipment complete the superstructure.

Wheeled excavator:

The mobile excavator is based on a HITACHI ZX150W-7 powered by a 105 kW diesel engine with an operating weight of 15,300 kg. SUNCAR is responsible for the design of the entire electrical system, including the high-voltage and low-voltage components, thermal management and software, as well as assistance with assembly, commissioning and second-level support. The wheel excavator marks the start of a new level of electrification - such as the electrification of the swing drive and the travel drive as well as the installation of an innovative electro-hydraulic boom actuator. Instead of just replacing the diesel engine with an electric motor, some of the conventional hydraulics will be replaced by direct electric drives. The project began in autumn 2022 and the team expects it to be completed by mid-2024.
