Description and scope of data processing

When you access the SUNCAR website, your Internet browser transmits the following data in particular to our web servers, which we store in so-called log files:

  • Date and time of access
  • URL of the referring website
  • retrieved file
  • amount of data transferred
  • browser type and version
  • operating system
  • Domain name of your Internet access provider
  • IP address

This data cannot be assigned to specific persons. We do not combine this data with other data sources. We reserve the right to check this data retrospectively if we become aware of specific indications of unlawful use.

Purpose of data processing

The temporary storage of the IP address by the system is necessary to enable delivery of the website to the user's terminal device. For this purpose, the user's IP address must remain stored for the duration of the session. We process this data firstly to be able to detect, track and stop cases of misuse of the SUNCAR website and thus ensure data security on our web servers and secondly to fulfill legal obligations and/or safeguard legal claims, in particular to be able to fulfill surrender claims by security authorities on the basis of corresponding national or international laws or other regulations.

Data security

We use technical and organizational security measures to ensure that our users' data is protected against loss, incorrect modification or unauthorized access by third parties. In any case, only authorized persons have access to your data, and only to the extent necessary for the above-mentioned purposes. The transmission of all data is encrypted. This site uses SSL encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from "http://" to "https://" and by the lock symbol in your browser line. If SSL encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

Use of cookies

We use "Google Analytics", a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. ("Google"), to evaluate website usage. Google Analytics uses "cookies", text files that are stored on your computer. The information contained therein about the website and internet usage of the visitor can be processed, evaluated and passed on by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) to Google and the processing of this data by Google with effect for the future by downloading and installing the browser plugin available under this link: For more information on terms of use and data protection, please click on this link. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website operator. Integration of third-party services and content

General

It may happen that third-party content, such as videos from YouTube, map material from Google Maps or graphics from other websites, is integrated within the SUNCAR website. This always assumes that the providers of this content (hereinafter referred to as "third-party providers") are aware of the IP address of the user. Without the IP address, they could not send the content to the browser of the respective user. The IP address is thus necessary for the presentation of this content. We endeavor to use only such content whose respective providers use the IP address only for the delivery of the content. However, we have no influence if the third-party providers store the IP address, e.g. for statistical purposes. Insofar as this is known to us, we inform the users about it.

YouTube

Our website uses plugins from the YouTube site operated by Google. The operator of the pages is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. When you visit one of our pages equipped with a YouTube plugin, a connection to the YouTube servers is established. This tells the YouTube server which of our pages you have visited. If you are logged into your YouTube account, you enable YouTube to assign your surfing behavior directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account. For more information on the handling of user data, please see YouTube's privacy policy at this link.

Facebook

Plugins of the social network Facebook, provider Facebook Inc., 1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, California 94025, USA, are integrated on our pages. You can recognize the Facebook plugins by the Facebook logo or the "Like button" ("Like") on our page. You can find an overview of the Facebook plugins under this link. When you visit our pages, a direct connection is established between your browser and the Facebook server via the plugin. Facebook thereby receives the information that you have visited our site with your IP address. If you click the Facebook "Like" button while logged into your Facebook account, you can link the content of our pages on your Facebook profile. This allows Facebook to associate the visit to our pages with your user account. We would like to point out that we, as the provider of the pages, have no knowledge of the content of the transmitted data or its use by Facebook. For more information, please see Facebook's privacy policy at this link. If you do not want Facebook to be able to associate your visit to our pages with your Facebook user account, please log out of your Facebook user account.
