Hybrid emergency power system

Hybride Netzersatzanlage

As a developer of electrical machines mostly off the road and off the grid, we are particularly proud that we were allowed to act as a development partner of Jost AG and BKW Power Grid in the innovative new development of the hybrid emergency power system (HEPS). Among other things, the HEPS consists of a diesel engine with generator and a battery storage system. The battery stores the electricity generated by the diesel engine and generator. When the battery is full, the diesel engine is switched off and the battery power is fed into the grid as needed. The diesel engine does not restart until the battery's state of charge falls below a defined level. The battery can also be recharged with surplus energy that is not needed at the moment from the connected power generation plants. This makes it possible to reduce diesel consumption and CO2 emissions by 80 percent during regular operation. This also significantly reduces noise pollution. The HEPS thus makes a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions and thus to the responsible use of resources.
